Let Go and Let God
I know nowadays this sounds so cliche but why reinvent the wheel! It’s the truth. When we let him steer us and direct our paths it’s almost like taking a deep sigh and being content that you know everything will be ok. Just put our life on autopilot.
I don’t know how many times I have called on my mom over the years to help me fix something. I broke my Barbie’s leg. “Mommy!” My brother won’t share the remote and she’s gone out of the house. “Mom!” I totaled my car, fractured my back, have a collapsed lung, and need stitches in my foot. “Mother!’ I move out of state, my passenger window is broken, my wallet is stolen, and I start a new job the same morning. “Ma!” (You can add your own inflections and whines with each distraught call)
Although my Ma is Super and starting out as you can she, she had things under control. Eventually the problems outgrew her hands but there was always someone who had been in the Shadows, well in the light….. serving as kind of like her Professor X, go to person, …….the Oracle….but Greater.
From these lessons I have learned God wants us to come to him and ask for his assistance and guidance. “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come” Jeremiah 33:3 (NLT). He wants to show us that we can only depend on HIm and the power He has. John 14:6 (NLT), Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Let me rewind….Jesus shares, ““Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4
I don’t know about you but I feel warm and fuzzy inside! I feel special! I feel loved! I feel secure. With expectations like this I can easily let go and feel comfortable in Him and in His promises.
No need to stress out Mom, no need to call the psychics, no need to keep driving and getting lost. God is more than willing and able to take over. I think once we can acknowledge and ACCEPT that concept, the hard part is over. Then we can slowly move one leg, let go of the wheel, move the other leg, and scoot over. The trip will go a lot smoother.
This brings me to my favorite scripture of all time, Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” That sounds so promising! Just believing in this as a foundational building block takes a load off!
So meditate on that for a while and visualize allowing God to take over.
